The Weasel Working Group
Formed in 2021, the North American Weasel Working Group was created to address concern and curiosity about the status of weasels in North America. Our primary focus is to improve methods for monitoring weasels to better assess populations trends and conservation need. Given the cryptic nature of weasels and that some range states likely have small populations, a collaborative or group approach to studying across multiple states is essential to helping us address ecological questions and test new monitoring methodologies. Additional goals of the group are to facilitate communication about weasels among biologists and serve as forum for sharing data/samples and conducting collaborative research.
The group is composed of University, Agency and non-governmental biologists from across the country. Membership is entirely voluntary and if you are interested in joining the group or listserv, please reach out to David Jachowski ([email protected]) for more information.
